Record the electrocardiogram in your neonatal mice!
There is a growing awareness that the cardiovascular system is implicated in a wide range of inflammatory and neurological conditions. Many fragile genetically modified mice die at a very young age inexplicably.
LifeSpoon™ provides researchers the opportunity to non-invasively monitor the electrocardiogram in newborn laboratory animals from day 1 of life. The design of the LifeSpoon includes a heated array of conductive electrodes in a warm cozy “spoon”, thereby minimizing handling of the pups. Applications include arrhythmia detection, health monitoring, and drug screening in fragile neonates and very young transgenic and knockout animals.
